To replace your lost, damaged or stolen NEXUS card, you can request a new pass by following the steps below. NEXUS card replacement is easy and simplified and may not require additional interview in an Enrolment Centre. There is a fee to re-issue your lost NEXUS card. Keep in mind that if there are changes in your personal information (address, names, etc.) or your GOES account, you may need to be interviewed again. A new card will be sent to you in plain white envelope due to security. Please note that your new pass will have the same expiry date as your stolen/damaged or lost NEXUS card. If you need to RENEW your pass, please visit our Nexus Renewal Page. Remember, RFID cards such as your NEXUS pass are only used at land border crossings and are not required at airport kiosks in the United States.
Each Trusted Traveller card, including the NEXUS pass, uses RFID(radio-frequency identification) technology to transmit your personal membership information from the card reader at the land border crossing to the CBP officer’s computer. If your card cannot be recognized by the RFID reader, then it is most probably damaged. If you are planning to use your NEXUS pass to access the dedicated lanes when entering into U.S. from Canada and Mexico, then you will need to replace your damaged NEXUS pass.
The conditions of the NEXUS membership require you to report the loss of your NEXUS card to an enrolment centre as soon as possible. You don’t need to go to the same enrolment centre where you had your interview or to schedule an appointment. Bring your passport/ID card and driver’s license. You will need to pay a fee for re-issuing your lost NEXUS card. Note that you should not apply for new card, because you membership in the program will be terminated. In case you find your old pass after re-issuing a new one, your previous card must be destroyed as it will not be accepted.
If your NEXUS card has been stolen, you need to call in to one of the Enrolment centres and report the theft. You are not required to go to the same enrolment centre you had your interview and you don’t need to schedule an interview. To report the theft, you will need your passport/ID and driver’s license. A fee will be assessed for re-issuing your card.
